Colorado Springs, CO — Scott Stone, a certified polygraph examiner and founder of Cross Point Solutions LLC, recently delivered a specialized training session at the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Academy, hosted at Pikes Peak State College. The four-hour course, titled “Introduction to Polygraph and Forensic Statement Analysis,” was designed to equip future law enforcement professionals with foundational skills in truth verification and investigative interviewing.
Bringing Real-World Expertise to the Classroom
With years of experience in polygraph examination and forensic interviewing, Stone was invited to share his expertise with criminal justice students, law enforcement trainees, and investigators. His instruction emphasized both the science and strategy behind detecting deception, offering students a rare opportunity to learn directly from a field practitioner.
“Teaching at the academy was a privilege,” said Stone. “These students are the future of law enforcement, and giving them tools to enhance investigative accuracy and integrity is something I’m proud to contribute to.”

The training covered a wide range of topics, including:
Polygraph Mechanics & Methodologies: Students learned about physiological indicators of deception and various testing formats such as MGQT, Concealed Information Tests, and Directed Lie Tests.
Legal Frameworks: The course explored the admissibility of polygraph evidence in court, referencing landmark cases like Frye v. United States and Daubert v. Merrell Dow, as well as Colorado-specific statutes.
Truth Verification Alternatives: Attendees were introduced to emerging technologies like CVSA, EyeDetect, and VAST, with comparative analysis on their strengths and limitations.
Forensic Statement Analysis (FSA): Stone guided students through linguistic cues and psychological markers that can reveal deception in written and verbal statements.
